Yesterday, I had the privilege of meeting an extraordinary individual, Mike Rolls. Once again, the world of golf has provided me with the opportunity to forge meaningful connections with individuals making a significant impact in the community.
Many of you may already be familiar with Mike's highly successful public speaking engagements, where he focuses on topics such as resilience, mindset psychology, and personal growth. I extend my gratitude to Fiona Telford, a member of the Australian Women's Golf Network, for facilitating this introduction. Fiona has recently joined the Board of Amputee Golf Victoria (AGV), an organisation spearheaded by Mike, who serves as the Founder and Chair. Her wealth of governmental insight and connections will undoubtedly contribute to the organisation's success.
AGV, led by a dedicated team of volunteers, is committed to organising golf events for amputees and has recently celebrated the success of their inaugural AGV Championships at The Metropolitan Golf Club.
During our conversation, we explored strategies to expand AGV's membership, particularly focusing on attracting more women to their events. I am eager to reach out to the AWGN and Bison United communities, seeking individuals who may have friends, family, or colleagues who are female amputees interested in joining a clinic program. Similar to our Fundamental Golf Program, Mike and his team are looking to initiate a new program with the ultimate goal of having more women participate in the next AGV Championships.
Rarely do I delve into my personal story and discuss concepts of post-traumatic growth with someone I've just met. However, after meeting Mike and witnessing the inspiring work he engages in, coupled with his open attitude toward others, appreciation for life, and exploration of new possibilities, I sensed a shared path between us.
I am eager to hear from you and facilitate connections between you and Mike and the AGV team.
