Jessica Costello: Empowering Women in Golf as our new AWGN SA Ambassador!

The Australian Women's Golf Network is thrilled to announce Jessica Costello as its newest Ambassador in South Australia.

With a passion for women's empowerment, engineering expertise, and a love for golf, Jessica is dedicated to encouraging women of all ages to embrace the sport and grow both personally and professionally.

A Journey Inspired by Connection and Inclusivity

Jessica's golf journey began after completing her Engineering Master's degree at the University of Queensland. What started as a way to spend quality time with her husband and work colleagues soon became an avenue to connect with other women in her community. Recognising the need for more flexible golfing opportunities, Jessica attended an AWGN event, which led her to discover a welcoming community that she continues to cherish.

Pursuing Goals and Fostering Growth

As an AWGN Ambassador, Jessica hopes to empower women to build their confidence, well-being, and professional networks through golf. Her dedication to helping others experience the benefits of joining the AWGN community aligns with her commitment to fostering growth and success for women in both their personal and professional lives.

Breaking Barriers in the Mining Industry

Jessica is a prominent figure at BHP, serving as the Manager of Project Delivery for the company's SA Copper Asset. She is currently managing a $AU750 million project portfolio, including vital infrastructure developments. Jessica's leadership serves as an inspiration for the next generation of women in STEM to pursue leadership roles. She actively works to create career paths, mentorships, and opportunities for women in her team and participates in BHP Brave, a program that allows her to mentor female employees in STEM fields.

Fostering Connections and Camaraderie

Jessica's passion for bringing people together has led to the creation of the Brisbane BHP Culture Committee, which hosts a variety of events promoting networking, team-building, and inclusivity. This initiative includes the Brisbane BHP Culture Committee Social Golf Club, an inclusive golfing experience that has drawn both frequent golfers and newcomers to the sport.

AWGN's Impact on Jessica's Journey

Since her first AWGN event, Jessica has attended numerous gatherings in Brisbane and Adelaide, developing her golf skills and expanding her professional network. Relocating to Adelaide for career advancement meant rebuilding her social and professional circles, and AWGN has played a crucial role in connecting her with like-minded women who share her passion for golf and personal growth.

As Jessica Costello steps into her role as an AWGN Ambassador, her enthusiasm for empowering women through golf serves as a testament to her commitment to personal growth and professional development.

We look forward to supporting Jessica in her endeavours and watching as she continues to inspire women in the golfing community and beyond.
