Empowering Women in Golf: Samantha Robertson Joins AWGN as New Ambassador!

The Australian Women's Golf Network is thrilled to announce the appointment of Samantha Robertson as our newest Ambassador.

With a lifelong passion for golf, a wealth of professional experience, and a dedication to promoting inclusivity in the sport, Samantha is an inspiring addition to the AWGN team.

From Childhood Passion to Professional Ambassador

Growing up in Coonabarabran, a small country town in Northwest NSW, Samantha's love for golf began at a young age. Inspired by local golf enthusiasts Harry and Jean Bayliss, she eagerly awaited her 10th birthday to enrol in their golf lessons. Samantha's passion led her to attend various golf camps and events across NSW, but she noticed early on the lack of female representation in the sport.

As a junior member of Wantima Country Club in Brisbane, Samantha was one of the few girls in the program. This experience fuelled her desire to create more opportunities for women and girls to engage in golf. After taking a hiatus from the sport during her university years, Samantha's love for golf was reignited by her husband, Richard, and their two children, aged 5 and 3.

Importance of Golf as a Family Activity

Golf has become a cherished family activity for Samantha, strengthening the bond with her loved ones. Playing golf together during holidays and weekends provides a unique opportunity to spend quality time outdoors and create lasting memories. Samantha fondly recalls a recent round of golf with her son, marking his first time playing.

As a sport that everyone can participate in, regardless of age or skill level, golf is an ideal family activity. Introducing her children to golf has allowed Samantha to share her passion with them while teaching valuable life lessons such as patience, perseverance, and sportsmanship.

Involvement with AWGN and Its Impact

Samantha's involvement with AWGN has positively impacted her professional and personal life, allowing her to connect with like-minded women who share her passion for golf and women's empowerment. Her participation in AWGN events has provided a sense of connection, support, and excitement to continue playing golf.

A Vision for Women's Empowerment and Inclusivity in Golf

As an AWGN Ambassador, Samantha's primary goal is to promote golf among women and girls, creating opportunities for families to play together and fostering a supportive community for golfers of all ages and skill levels. Her professional background as Head of Business Transformation for a primary production agricultural company in Queensland further equips her to drive positive change in the world of women's golf.

Samantha's role requires strategic thinking, leadership, and a focus on growth initiatives. These skills directly translate to her efforts in promoting golf and supporting AWGN initiatives, as both endeavours involve building strong teams and driving meaningful change.

A Bright Future for Women's Golf in Australia

The Australian Women's Golf Network is confident that Samantha Robertson's appointment as an Ambassador will further strengthen our mission to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for women in golf. Her passion, dedication, and wealth of experience make her an invaluable asset to our team, and we look forward to the positive impact she will make on the sport.

As we celebrate Samantha's appointment, we encourage women and girls across Australia to join us in our efforts to promote inclusivity and empower one another through the game of golf.
